Marathon star zips around South Africa in a Polo

Employees at Volkswagen South Africa will be watching marathons with an even keener interest in the future: They have high hopes for South African Lusapho April at the Olympic Games in Rio, now drawing to a close, and who is a brand ambassador for the Polo Vivo.

Lusapho April feels comfortable in the Polo Vivo and his trainers.

Employees at the Volkswagen South Africa plant in Uitenhage build both the Polo and Polo Vivo. And it is precisely Uitenhage that Lusapho calls home. Recently he was successful at an event not far from Volkswagen headquarters in Wolfsburg: The 34-year-old won the Hanover Marathon for the third time. “Lusapho embodies performance, determination and a passion for success and is therefore not only the ideal representative for the Uitenhage plant, but for Volkswagen as a whole,” said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen South Africa, before handing the professional athlete the keys to a new Polo Vivo GTS.
