Family strikes it lucky

Volkswagen brand delivers its e-Golf for the first ever time in Dresden.

It was a new milestone in Volkswagen’s (Gläserne Manufaktur). At the beginning of June, the very first two new e-Golfs were delivered to customers. Before now, only the luxury class models Touareg, Phaeton and CC have been delivered to customers at this location. The Paulo family traveled 525 kilometers from Weil in Baden-Württemberg specially to pick up the car in Dresden. The second customer came all the way from Rheine in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is 450 kilometers from Dresden.

The vehicle, in “pure white,” boasts 136 hp and comes with both the cruise control system with automatic distance control ACC, and also park distance control. “A new chapter is starting in the Transparent Factory. Now, we are also delivering e-vehicles directly in Dresden. This underscores our role as a pioneer of electromobility within the Volkswagen brand,” said Liane Scheinert, Head of Sales and Marketing.

Vehicle handover in Dresden is divided into two components: first a static handover in the Transparent Factory with expert explanations by product experts on vehicle operation, charging plugs, and charging cables. Second – and this is what makes Dresden special – there is a dynamic driving induction session on the streets of Dresden with the Volkswagen expert. Customers receive tips and tricks on how to drive in order to ensure optimal range. Optionally, they can also stop off at the new e-mobility station (e-filling station) at the plant, where the new e-vehicle can be charged up for free before driving home.

From now on, all four Volkswagen brand e-vehicles (e-up!, e-Golf, Golf GTE and Passat GTE), and the luxury class models Arteon and Touareg, will be delivered in Dresden as well as in the auto city Wolfsburg.
