Ready to Roc

Premiere at the IAA in Frankfurt: The new T-Roc impresses fully digital and with a crisp and colorful design.

The name

Four letters, one statement – the T-Roc. The “T” emphasizes its close relationship with the Tiguan and Touareg. The “Roc” derives from the English word “rock,” and also underscores the car’s SUV qualities.

The dimensions

This crossover model is 4.23 meters long, which makes it 25 centimeters shorter than the Tiguan. It measures 1.81 meters in width without the outside mirrors, and is 1.57 meters high.

The engines

The car comes equipped with one of six efficient TSI and TDI engines from 85 kW/115 hp to 140 kW/ 190 hp. The 190-hp version transfers power to all four wheels with 4MOTION and 7-speed DSG as standard features.

The cockpit

The new generation of the Active Info display is a striking feature of the interior. As the highest point in the cockpit, the touchscreen of this infotainment system offers excellent visibility. The 8.0-inch version has a glass screen – as high-grade as a tablet.

Plenty of room for five people. All enjoy high seating, and the driver is a good 57 cm above the road. The luggage compartment behind the rear seats has a volume of 445 liters, or up to 1,290 liters when the rear seats are folded down. Here the T-Roc leads every other car in its class.

The assistants

Here the T-Roc is playing in the top league. Even the base version includes, for example, the ambient traffic monitoring system Front Assist with city emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring, the Multi-Collision Brake, and Lane Assist.

Cool, bi-color paintwork – the roof, the A-pillars, and the two outside mirrors can be painted upon demand in one of three hues. The interior is also colorful. The base version of the T-Roc comes with a dash pad in decorative Deep Black matt. Other colors are also possible.

» We’ve put a crossover on the road with a very expressive, almost daring, design. These emotional elements add to its appeal. «

Frank Welsch, Member of the Board of Management with responsibility for ‘Development', presents the new T-Roc at the IAA in Frankfurt.

A fresh breeze in compact design – that’s Volkswagen’s new T-Roc, a crossover that combines the commanding presence of an SUV with the qualities of a sporty, compact hatchback. Notable strengths include easy access, high seating, excellent visibility, and a spacious interior.

The T-Roc is the Volkswagen brand’s fourth SUV model. “The world wants SUVs,” said brand CEO Herbert Diess at the T-Roc’s world premiere in Lake Como, Italy. “The T-Roc marks a milestone in our SUV campaign and sets a new benchmark in the booming SUV segment.”

The new T-Roc will be launched in nearly all the major world markets. For Europe, the new SUV will be made at the Palmela plant in Portugal and will come onto the market in November. In Germany, the vehicle will be positioned in the €20,000 class, and advance sales will begin in September.

» With its functionality, dynamism, and technology, the T-Roc embodies all the strong Volkswagen qualities. It is a milestone in our SUV campaign. «

Herbert Diess, Brand CEO

From Como to Frankfurt

The new T-Roc had its world premiere in mid-August at Lake Como in northern Italy. More than 300 representatives of national and international media had the chance to check out the new crossover for the first time in person. The next major station for the T-Roc will be the International Automobile Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt, Germany on September 14–24 – a superb stage for the car’s trade fair debut!

Curtain up at the world premiere (from left to right): Sales head Jürgen Stackmann, Volkswagen Design head Klaus Bischoff, and Volkswagen brand CEO Herbert Diess with a T-Roc in Turmeric Yellow Metallic.
