Hello, Colleague!

Andreas Müller, Project Manager in the Electric Vehicles division

"There’s no doubt about it – from the cathedral to the August Horch Museum, Zwickau has so much to offer."

Andreas Müller

What does your role at Volkswagen Sachsen in Zwickau actually involve?

I have been working as a project manager at the plant since 2012. Until recently, after the launches of the Golf A7, Golf A7 Variant, and Passat B8, our plant was responsible for overseeing the Golf A8 and the upgrade of the Passat B8. I learned a lot during this time. I now deal with topics such as start-up costs and internal planning contracts on a cross-market basis for projects concerning the modular electrification toolkit (MEB), which is an interesting challenge for me. With the brand being so diverse, my role is developing on a day-to-day basis. I have the opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge and creativity in everything I do, which is also expanding my wealth of experience.

What is the best experience you have had so far at Volkswagen?

The Family Day in 2015 gave me the chance to show my parents where I work, which really meant a lot to me – and them. This was back when I had just returned from my time in Wolfsburg, and I was so pleased to be able to show them in person what I do and who I work with. Back then, it was called the modular transverse toolkit (Modularer Querbaukasten, MQB). I would also love a chance to show my parents around the new world of electric architecture and let them see the future of our plant here.

What should colleagues visiting Zwickau be sure to see or do?

There’s no doubt about it – from the cathedral to the August Horch Museum, Zwickau has so much to offer. I would also suggest venturing off the beaten track. There’s the Gasometer, which is a great concert venue, and there are plenty of restaurants around the city that are always well worth a visit.
