The Wolfsburg plant has manufactured 45 million automobiles since serial production began in December of 1945 – more than any other Group location. And now the car to mark that milestone has rolled off the assembly line: an e-Golf1. “That number, 45 million, fittingly represents our ever-reliable main plant in Wolfsburg, our strong team, and the products and quality that wow our customers.
We are enormously grateful for all those things, and they give us an excellent base for facing the challenges of the future,” says Production Manager Andreas Tostmann. At 19 million vehicles, the Golf is the most frequently built model at the Wolfsburg location, followed by the Beetle at almost 12 million. Plant Manager Stefan Loth also congratulated employees on the occasion of having produced 45 million vehicles, saying, “This achievement makes us proud.”
